This solution is an integration for PayPal Website Payments Standard which allows you to have a catalog of items at your MODx site... it lets your visitors look around and add/remove items to/from the "Shopping Cart" at any time without leaving your website, then when they are ready to check out, they temporarily leave your site to have their payment processed securely at the PayPal website. If you want, your customers will be returned back to your site after their payment is complete.
This is a nice solution for smaller businesses or a small on-line presence that can't realistically justify the cost of a merchant account, payment gateway, SSL certificate, and a dedicated server for securely storing and processing payment info.

For medium to big size stores (1000 or more items) we recommend "PrestaShop". "PrestaShop" is an Open Source e-commerce solution, freely downloadable, allowing you to open your online store with just a few clicks.
